The story delves into the mystery of Mom’s earlier life trying to understand why the feared disease targeted her. It wasn’t until after Mother’s death in 2010 when I discovered her hand written journals telling of her secret life filled with terrifying delusion and fear that only her husband knew of. The path she eventually took coxed her right off the edge of reality and into the waiting grasp of Alzheimer’s. I ultimately realized that Alzheimer’s had become Mom’s unlikely ally.
